Easton Richard Srofe
Our Superhero
Dec 11, 2019 - April 11, 2020
Easton was an amazing little boy who brought strength, laughter, love, and inspiration to so many people, despite being on this Earth for such a short time. Easton was born with a rare medical condition called Neonatal Marfan Syndrome and died when he was four months old. He was an old soul, and found always found a way to communicate with those around him. His smile was infectious, and everyone wanted to be around him.
But most of all Easton was fighter; he never gave up. He was our superhero. He was born not breathing and immediately medevaced to a hospital that could better meet his needs. He puzzled and surprised doctors by how fast he recovered from his breathing difficulties. He had his first surgery when he was only 2 weeks old. After spending a month at home, Easton had to be admitted back to the hospital, initially to get a gtube, but he continued to get worse and his lung and heart issues became the most important thing. His breathing got to the point where he was going to have to have a tracheostomy. However his heart needed to be operated on first. He had two heart surgeries, which the doctors didn’t think he would survive. Thanks to a technology called ECMO, he did. However, it became apparent that his heart was not going to start to function again so we said goodbye to our superhero and let him rest. You can read his full story on at eastonsimpact.org.
